EMBRELIA~(TM) (ISOPYRAZAM + DIFENOCONAZOLE), A NEW FUNGICIDE COMBINATION FROM SYNGENTA TO PROTECT POME FRUIT AGAINST SCAB, POWDERY MILDEW STEMPHYLIUM AND PEACH AND NECTARINE AGAINST MONILIA SP.

EMBRELIA~(TM) is a completely new fungicide combination developed by Syngenta on pome fruit and peach, nectarine diseases. EMBRELIA~(TM) is a suspension concentrate (SC) which combines a triazole: difenocona-zole (40 g/l) and the new active ingredientisopyrazam (100 g/l), belonging to the pyrazole-carboxamides chemical family.During the past years, many trials have been performed to study the behavior of the product in the plant, its activities on the pathogens, its rainfastness properties and its performance in the field. These studies show that in the fruit, both actives move steadily from the surface into the waxes. However, while difenoconazole goes quite quickly into the peel, isopyrazam accumulates mainly in the wax. This gives to EMBRELIA*" very good rainfastness and long-lasting protection properties. EMBRELIA~(TM) activities cover all life cycle stages of the pathogen with the combination of the two actives: difenoconazole mainly acts on the germ-tube elongation and mycelium growth. The development of co-nidia as well as their fitness is also clearly affected. Isopyrazam mainly acts on the first stages of the pathogen by inhibition of conidia germination and penetration. It limits also the fungal growth after infection in the cell.In consequence, the complementary properties of these two active ingredients provides in the field a high level of protection on the fruits against apple scab and powdery mildew as well as pear scab and Stem-phylium. It provides also a high level of protection on peach and nectarine against Monilia sp. on fruit at harvest and after storage.In addition, the combination of two active ingredients from different modes of action with no cross resistance known, protects the individual modes of action and thus helps to extend their sustainability. This makes EMBRELIA~(TM) a valuable solution forthe resistance management strategies.
