Levels of organochlorine pesticides (OCPs) residues in tilapia fish and their health risk associated with the consumption of the fish from Edko lake, Egypt were determined. The analytical method was the quick, easy, cheap, effective, rugged and safe (QuEChRS) for extraction and clean-up of OCPs residues from fish followed by GC-ECD and GC-ITD as analytical tools. A total of 18 OCP were analyzed, only heptachlorepoxide, p,p-DDE, dieldrin, p,p-DDD and endrin ketone were detected in muscles of fish withconcentrations of 0.1144, 0.2119, 0.4352, 0.1196 and 0.1323 ug/kg b.w., respectively. Heptachlorepoxide recorded the lowest concentration white dieldrin recorded the highest concentration. The results of health risk assessment showed that dieldrin in fish of Edko lake recorded health risk index more than one and this means that there was health risk associated with adult consumption of this fish. However, heptachlorepoxide, p,p-DDE, p,p-DDD and endrin ketone did not show any direct health risk althoughof their presence in fish of Edko lake.
