Genetic transformation of somatic tissues and zygotic embryos of the cv. Dolce Agogia was obtained using Agrobacterium tumefaciens carrying the plasmid pBIN19 containing rolA, B, C from A. rhizogenes T-DNA. The presence of the rol inserts in the genome of somatic tissues was shown by their resistance to kanamycin and by NPT II enzyme activity assays. Southern hybridization confirmed the results.
