Studies on inducing male sterile lines and their utilization in cineraria (Senecio cruentus)

Dried seeds of cineraria were treated with 5 kR gamma rays, and the resulting mutant plants were selfed and male sterile lines were selected. The use of these male sterile lines in the breeding of ornamental cineraria cultivars is outlined.
