Sowing and transplant dates in four cima di rapa (Brassica rapa L.) cultivars. II. Transplanting dates

The cima di rapa (B. [campestris var.] rapa) cultivars Quarantina (very early), Sessantina (early), di Gennaio (medium-late) and di Febbraio-Marzo (late) were planted on 25 September and 5 November 1982 and 18 January and 10 March 1983. Head yieldswere higher when crops were planted early and showed a linear decreasing trend with delayed planting date, particularly with the late cultivars di Gennaio and di Febbraio-Marzo. Premature heading occurred on a large number of plants of Quarantina. Largedifferences were observed in the yield of early cultivars, but none in the late ones. The results showed that planting date could be used to produce a spread of harvesting dates.
