The relationships among fruiting, vegetative growth and rootstock in sweet cherry trees

An non-irrigated trial was set up at Erd (Hungary) in 1986 and an irrigated trial at Kiskoros in 1987 with Schneider trees on Prunus mahaleb, GM 79 or GM 61 rootstocks and Van trees (only at Kiskoros) on P. mahaleb or GM 61. Central leader measurements were taken in mid-June and at the end of the growing season. Data are tabulated on central leader length, shoot growth after mid-June, flowering, tree height in 1993 and canopy spread in 1993. The amount of growth taking place after mid-June was important for fruit development.
