A greenhouse tomato cultivar (cv. Hamra) trial was conducted at Horticultural Department, Ferdwosi University of Mashhad, Iran in 2003. This study was conducted to determine the effects of irrigation schedules and cultural mediums on fruit yield and quality of tomato. Irrigation was carried out according to frequency of application for (1) four (2) eight, and (3) twelve times a day. The substrates were (1) perlite, (2) lika, and (3) perlite+lika (1:1 v/v). The experimental design was of split plots with 3 replicates. The main plots and subplots were irrigation schedules and substrates respectively. The parameters such as number and yield of fruit per plant, average of fruit weight, fruit set percentage, number of nods (leaves) to first flower (cluster) and vitamin C [ascorbic acid] were recorded. Irrigation treatments were more effective than substrates in increasing yield. Higher yield were obtained from plants irrigated for 8 and 12 times a day and in perlite medium. Higher level of vitamin C was obtained with 12 times a day irrigation. Other parameters varied according to treatments..
