A superior seedless mutant clone of 'Jing' orange 'Xifeng No.1'

Xifeng 1 is a seedless mutant selected in 1982 from a grove of Citrus sinensis cv. Jing in Fingfu county, Sichuan province, China. The botanical characteristics and growth habit are identical to Jing. Fruit quality of Xifeng 1 is excellent and fruits are large weighing 175 g. The rind is smooth and thin (35 mm) while the flesh is fine, very juicy with a fragrant flavour. Sugar and acidity contents are 8.55 g and 1.08 g per 100 ml juice, respectively. Total soluble solids are 12.2 Brix. The mutant has normal flowers and seedlessness is attributed to early embryo abortion.
