Acclimatization of Dracaena reflexa 'Song of India' for simulated shipping conditions.

The effects of light intensity (122, 284 and 698 micro E m-2 s) and durations of acclimatization (2, 4 or 6 weeks) on the quality of D. reflexa were determined during 3 stages viz., acclimatization, simulated shipping conditions and post-shipment recovery in Selangor, Malaysia. The plants were then placed in an interior environment for about 4 weeks (simulated shipping). After 4 weeks in simulated shipping, plants were restored for a week. Plants grown under 284 micro E m-2 s-1 for 6 weeks acclimatization period maintained a substantial good quality during simulated shipping conditions.
