My last report took us up to late June 2017, around the time of the Melbourne Mining Club gala dinner with AusIMM at the Nursery Pavilion, Lord's Cricket Ground, UK, where the London mining community enjoyed a presentation by Graham Kerr, Chief Executive Officer, South 32, UK. The I0M3 Premier Awards evening got July off the mark, and as always it was a pleasure to recognise those who have contributed to our community. The ceremony was closely followed by the Energy Materials Group Annual Lecture, given by our new Honorary Fellow, Dame Sue Ion, who gave an in-depth summary of the materials challenges in current fuels and developments for the next generation of nuclear reactors.
