摘要

Nitrogen is one of the growth limiting factors for the fungus Neurospora crassa. In order to meet its nitrogen demand, N. crassacan use a broad variety of different nitrogen sources. Amongst them is nitrate, which is reduced to ammonia in the nitrate assimilation pathway. The key enzyme of this pathway is nitrate reductase, whose activity essentially depends on the molybdenum cofactor, which is located in the active site.
