Studies by Associate Professor David Lupton at Monash University have focused on N-heterocycLic carbene (NHC) organocatalysis, particularly as it relates to the generation of novel reactivity patterns with acyl azoliums. NHC organocatalysis has flourished in the last 20 years, moving beyond the Breslow intermediate to encompass a diverse range of reactive intermediates now.
