Better health can be achieved through personalised medicine. In particular, low-cost and easy-to-use point-of-care devices that provide quick and accurate results for on-site therapeutic drug monitoring would help clinicians to adjust dosing regimens for individual patients. An entirely new way to extract, isolate and concentrate drugs from body fluids suitable for disposable point-of-care devices has recently been developed by Aliaa ShaLlan, a PhD student from the Breadmore and Guijt group in the Australian Centre for Research on Separation Science (ACROSS) at the University of Tasmania (Shallan A.I., Guijt R.M., Breadmore M.C.
