Use of Biocatalysis in Pharmaceutical Manufacturing

Biocatalysis is an established technology for chemical transformations. Chcmo-, regio- and stereo-selectivity are key-issues in most of the bioprocesses. We studied biotransformations of molecules with different structural complexity; the products obtained are intermediates for the production of pharmaceuticals. Two examples are reported: 1. an alternative chemo-enzymatic synthesis of Captopril. 2. modifications of glycolipopeptide/glycollpodepsipetide antibiotics.
