摘要

UPLAND fairly levelled (Ma/) and low land bunded (Gabhar) farming situations of Bastar Plateau Zone are relatively fertile which occupy about 40 per cent of the cropped area (0.832 million ha). Rice coverage in these farming situations during kharif season is 88 and 96 per cent, respectively (Rao, 1991). After rice harvest these fields are kept fallow in general, mainly because of very limited irrigation facilities (2.1% of cultivated area). Information on gram varieties suitable for rice-based cropping system under rainfed conditions for the zone is scanty. Annual rainfall in Bastar zone ranges from 1200-1 600 mm. Keeping above view in mind, the present investigation was undertaken to find out the suitable gram genotypes for rice-based cropping system under above situations of the zone.
