EFFECT OF INCUBATION TEMPERATURE, STORAGE DURATION AND CONTAINERS ON THE SEED MYCOFLORA AND GERMINATION OF GROUNDNUT SEEDS

GROUNDNUT seed is a carrier of many fungal pathogens viz., Aspergillus niger, A. flavus, Fusarium sp., Rhizoctonia sp., etc, which may deteriorate the seeds during storage besides causing pre and post-emergence rotting of seedlings. The pods are normally stored in gunny bags for 3-7 months in the houses of the farmers until the same are used for sowing in the subsequent season. A study was taken up to assess the effect of different containers and temperature regimes on the seed borne . mycoflora.
