Problems and suggestions from farm women for effective time utilization in home activities

India is basically an agricultural country and its economy depends upon its agricultural production. The female population in the country according to 1991 census is 406.38 million (48.15 percent of total population) of which 75 per cent are in ruralareas and belong to the families of small and marginal farmers. Women perform multiple roles in society. The major three roles performed by them are firstly, the productive role - which includes various economic activities being performed by women in different walks of life. Second, service role-involving home making and house keeping and the third nurturing, the later two roles include much time and energy consuming tasks for which opportunity cost is rarely calculated and rarely given the status of work (Anjali Roy and Suresh Kumar, 2000).
