Inspired by Lego bricks, researchers led by a team at Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) in Portland, Ore. have created new 3D-printed bricks that could one day be used to heal broken bones, repair human tissue, and even create artificial human organs. The small, hollow bricks serve as scaffolding onto which both hard and soft tissue can regrow better than today's standard regeneration methods. Each brick is 1.5 mm cubed, or roughly the size of a flea.
