Replies to: The danger to cytopathology of over-specialization and its relevance for histopathology

The British Society for Clinical Cytology (BSCC) wishes to respond to the letter submitted by Dina et al. and make the following observations and comments. While we acknowledge the existence of concern amongst some trainees about the quality of their training in cytopathology and their confidence in independent practice at the end of training, we feel that the quotation of outcomes from the qualifying examinations of the Royal College of Pathologists (RCPath) may be misleading; the President of the College has expanded on this in his reply.
