摘要

Ancient masonry towers are an important cultural heritage and particularly vulnerable to damage during earthquakes. To investigate the dynamic characterization and the seismic performances of historical masonry towers, a 1/8-scale masonry model representative of an ancient Chinese tower was studied by shaking table tests. The experimental model was subjected to four scaled earthquake ground motion in two directions, the dynamic characteristics, the seismic response as well as the failure mechanism were analyzed. In addition, a nonlinear finite element model was also established with macro-modeling approach to further study its seismic response, the results between the tests and the model were compared and agreed well.
