Polygonal cells with ceroid granules and myoepithelial cells in fine needle aspiration cytology of ceruminous adenoma

We have recently examined fine needle aspiration (FNA) cytology from two ceruminal adenomas. A ceruminal adenoma is a benign glandular neoplasm of ceruminous glands arising solely within the external auditory canal. So far, the clinical, histological and immunohistochemical features have been well described, but no report has focused on its cyto-logical features on FNA. The first patient, a 79-year-old woman, had a 9-month history of hearing loss in the left ear, while the second was a woman aged 52 years with a few months' history of an itch and discharge from her left ear.
