VMB to Debate Allowing Physical Therapists to Open Animal Physical Rehabilitation Practices

The CVMA is strongly opposed to possible actions pending before the Veterinary Medical Board (VMB) that could result in statutory and/ or regulatory changes allowing physical therapists to practice veterinary medicine by referral and outside of a veterinary animal hospital setting. The CVMA believes that animal patients and consumers are best protected only when a valid veterinarian-client-patient relationship is established, and when there is supervision by a California licensed veterinarian at a premises with a veterinarian licensee manager.
