Leakage or artificial dissemination of toxic chemicals in industrial sites, terrorist scenes, and chemical & biological warfare attacks can result in casualties. In particular, chemical warfare agents (CWAs) are widely employed in military operations and terrorist attacks because of their lethal toxic effects. Most CWAs, such as sarin (GB), which is a nerve agent, contaminate the ground surface first upon dissemination, and then gradually evaporate and diffuse, secondarily polluting the air,1 finally causing casualties. Therefore, rapid analysis of liquid contaminants on the ground surface and sharing the detection and identification results for toxic chemicals are critical for decreasing the number of casualties by CWAs. Until now, sampling of the toxic chemicals at the contaminated site is carried out, followed by analysis in the laboratory to detect chemicals. Recently, the paradigm is shifting to quick on-site analysis and real-time availability of results.
