Mggling two roles: flexibility is the key

I am also link lecturer for pre-registration student nurses from LSBU, which means clinical visits to the wards to support students and mentors during their clinical placements. This also gives me the opportunity to engage with the urology nurses on their continuing professional development, either in house or by encouraging them to embark on some form of study such as undertaking the urology modules at LSBU. Add to this the answering of emails and general everyday issues or project requests that come up and my 2-3 days a week at UCLH can be very busy indeed. My days tend to extend into the evenings as I don my other two 'hats' as editor of the British Association of Urological Nurses' (BAUN) newsletter and editor of the International Journal of Urological Nursing (IJUN). So most days I do not get home much before 8.30pm, depending on how close my deadline is.
