Background: Gegen Qinlian decoction (GQT), is a classic traditional Chinese medicine formula chronicled in Shang Han Lun, and is widely used to treat diarrhea and inflammation symptoms in various gastrointestinal disorders. Although it has been found to inhibit delayed-onset mice diarrhea resulted from irinotecan (CPT-11) administration in preliminary experiments, the underlying mechanisms and chemical components remain elusive.
