Following a cytokine meeting in 1988, probably at the bar, we decided there was a need for a research journal dedicated to the emerging field of cytokine biology and biomedicine.The journal, CYTOKINE, was launched a year later in 1989 by the publishing house WB Saunders of Philadelphia.Now, many years later and after passing through the hands of four publishers, CYTOKINE is an official journal of the International Cytokine and Interferon Society, and the specialised field of its inception is now mainstream in biological and biomedical research.On this, the 25th anniversary of CYTOKINE, we have decided to step down as joint Editors-in-Chief and hand the baton on to the next generation.
