Modern spreadsheet programs are inexpensive, easy to use and have a host of powerful mathematical and graphical capabilities. Here I show how such programs can be used in the interpretation of protein sequences. The methods described allow researchersto produce many types of sequence interpretation plots, which can then be printed out or conveniently incorporated into documents. It is also easy to manipulate the parameters used in sequence interpretation without any knowledge of computer programming.
