GPCA ’17: China’s Belt & Road Initiative can boost Middle East petchems

DUBAI (ICIS)--Chemical producers in the Middle East will get a boost from China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), under which China is creating six major trade corridors across Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Europe, a consultant said on Monday. China will invest $750bn globally in the next five years and import $8 trillion of commodities and services, which offers 'massive opportunities' for the chemical producers in the Middle East to capitalise on, said Paul Harnick, partner and global head of Chemicals and Performance Technologies at consultancy firm KPMG.
