Crude oil futures extended their previous gains, lifted by stronger confidence in the effectiveness of OPEC efforts to reduce the global supply glut. News that Saudi Arabia is reducing supplies to the Asian market strengthened the bullish mood, and prices received further support from a weakening US dollar. Futures remained firm on OPEC’s most recent monthly oil market report in which it revised total global oil demand estimates for 2017 higher while cutting supply projections.
