Norway's Yara agrees Dallol potash mining rights with Ethiopian government

LONDON (ICIS)--Yara has received approval to advance its Dallol sulphate of potash (SOP) project in Ethiopia's Afar region, the Norwegian fertilizer major announced on Tuesday. The Dallol project area has been identified as rich in resources vital to SOP production. Dallol is expected to produce up to 600,000 tonnes/year of SOP - equivalent to approximately 10% of the global market. Yara holds a 51.8% stake in the Yara Dallol development firm.
