German Chancellor Merkel vows support at chem labour congress

LONDON (ICIS)--German Chancellor Angela Merkel is supporting the country’s chemical and other labour unions in strengthening the role of collective bargaining (Tarifbindung), she said on Thursday. Tarifbindung means that companies and employees in an industry are subject to broad collective bargaining deals negotiated between employers' groups and unions-as opposed to separate deals between an individual company and its workers.
