China’s Sinochem among bidders for $4bn stake in potash producer SQM - reports

LONDON (ICIS)--Chinese chemicals giant Sinochem has expressed interest in a $4bn stake in Chilean muriate of potash (MOP) producer SQM, as the stake’s previous holder – Canada’s PotashCorp (PCS) – prepares to divest the shares, according reports on Monday. PCS was forced to divest its stake in SQM as it works to finalise a merger with fellow Canadian MOP producer Agrium. The merger will result in the creation of the world’s largest potash producer, to be called ‘Nutrien’.
