Swiss Lonza raises $873m from sale of new shares

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Lonza has raised Swiss franc (Swfr) 865m ($873m) from the sale of 5m new shares which it intends to partially finance its $5.5bn acquisition of US firm Capsugel, the Swiss producer said on Wednesday. Lonza placed the new shares via a private placement in Switzerland and to institutional investors and qualified institutional buyers elsewhere, it said in a statement.
