Anyone who put their money into equity markets in early 2009, and stuck with those markets, right up until now has done fantastically well. And of course anyone who took a punt by going long on US and other stock markets immediately after Donald Trump's November victory has done very well. But what do equity markets really say about the strength of chemicals demand? Not a lot, unfortunately, and neither may they be a good guide to future of real demand if US financial regulations are relaxed. Booming equities by themselves won't solve today's problem.
