Nutrien considers nitrogen expansion amid stronger fundamentals

HOUSTON (ICIS)--Stronger nitrogen fundamentals have prompted Nutrien to consider the future of its nitrogen business activity, including the expansion of its nitrogen plants, the Canadian fertilizer major said on Tuesday. While cautioning that greenfield projects do not make economical sense, even amid a more robust time for the nitrogen market, Nutrien CEO Chuck Magro said that a brownfield strategy may eventually make more sense, but it was a bit speculative to assume a route the company would follow for capacity expansion.
