Chile’s SQM Q1 net income rises 10%; sales inch higher

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Sociedad Quimica y Minera de Chile’s (SQM) first-quarter net income rose by 10% year on year to $113.8m on the back of strong sales at its specialty plant nutrition and lithium derivative businesses, the Chile-based producer said late on Thursday. Overall revenues inched by 0.03% year on year to $518.7m in the first quarter while gross profit was up by 8.32% at $192.7m, the company said in a statement.
