US crops close in on maturity as corn 61% dented

HOUSTON (ICIS)--As the last week of August unfolds, US farmers are seeing much of their acreage beginning to reach the final stage as the amount of corn dented is now at 61% while 95% of the soybean crop has set pods, the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) Weekly Crop Progress report showed on Monday. Although high temperatures remain a fixture, the major crop regions look to continue with moderately favourable conditions through this week, with parts of Midwest set to dry out after another round of rainfall over the weekend.
