Eurozone May inflation falls sharply, moves away from ECB’s target

LONDON (ICIS)--Inflation in the eurozone fell sharply in May on the back of generalised price decreases in most sectors, the statistical agency Eurostat said on Tuesday. At 1.2%, inflation in the 19-country currency union fell sharply from April’s 1.7%, as all price categories decreased decreased from the previous month, notably those for energy imports, of which the eurozone is highly dependant.
