CRUDE SUMMARY: Oil futures rally to one-month highs as US stockpiles plummet

LONDON (ICIS)--Oil markets surged on Thursday as US government data showing plummeting crude stocks sent markets into an afternoon rally. Official Energy Information Administration (EIA) figures released around 16:00 London time, revealed that US crude inventories plummeted twice as much as was expected, slumping by 4.8 million barrels in the week to 30 August compared with an expected 2.5m bbl draw. This marked the third consecutive week in which US crude stocks fell.
