Uncertainty for Mexico PS, PE producers due to US tariffs threat

HOUSTON (ICIS)--There is concern in Mexico and the US about new tariffs the US plans to impose on all Mexican products starting 10 June, if Mexico does not stop the flow of migrants into the US. Mexico sells to the US slightly more than 71,000 tonnes/year of polystyrene (PS), a figure that represents 57% of the total imports entering the US. Polyethylene (PE) and PE tubes are other Mexican products that comprised nearly 70% of total US imports in 2018, according to the US International Trade Commission (ITC).
