HOUSTON (ICIS)--The Federal Reserve held interest rates steady on Wednesday and dialled back talk of further rate hikes in 2019, saying inflation remains tame.The US central bank voted almost unanimously on Wednesday to maintain its benchmark interest rate at 2.25-2.50%, a widely expected move. The Fed statement said it continues to see sustained expansion of economic activity, strong labour market conditions and inflation near its 2% objective as the most likely outcomes, “but uncertainties about this outlook have increased”.
