US DuPont targets growth in new energy vehicles, China's market key - execs

GUANGZHOU (ICIS)--DuPont is aiming to tap into rising demand in automotive applications like new energy vehicles (NEV), executives at the US chemicals major said on Monday. NEV includes battery electric vehicle, plug-in hybrid and other hybrids. By 2030, nearly half of manufactured cars will be hybrid or electric, and there will be over 50% additional revenue per vehicle opportunity in hybrid/electric cars versus internal combustion engine (ICE), said Jeroen Bloemhard, global vice president of performance materials of Dupont Transportation & Advanced Polymers (T&AP).
