Ford set to cut six plants in Europe, 12,000 jobs affected

LONDON (ICIS)--Ford is planning to close or sell six plants in Europe by the end of next year, the company announced on Thursday, as part of a business redesign. The US car manufacturer’s plan to reduce European sites from 24 to 18 by the end of 2020 – including the proposed closure of the engine plant in Bridgend, Wales – was announced earlier in June as part of an efficiency drive.
