Japan's Shin-Etsu Chemical Q1 net profit up 20%; sales down 4.2%

TOKYO (ICIS)--Shin-Etsu Chemical posted a 20% year-on-year increase in its firstquarter net profit to yen (Y) 45.3bn ($428m) on higher sales volume, the Japanese chemical producer said on Tuesday. Operating profit for the first three months to 30 June 2016 rose by 17% to Y60bn, but net sales fell by 4.2% to Y300.7bn, the producer said in a statement.
