Coal India, NTPC to revive 1.27m-tonne/year urea plants

LONDON (ICIS) - Coal India Limited (CIL) and National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) signed a 50:50 joint venture agreement to revive Fertilizer Corporation of India’s fertilizer plants in Sindri and Gorakhpur, according to a company statement late Monday. The two gas-based urea plants will have a capacity of 1.27m tonnes/year of urea along with other chemicals, according to the release.
