Molecular orbital theory for the disulfide bond is reviewed and establishes the lasting impact of Goran Bergson's pioneering effort. Intramolecular proton transfer in indene and substituted indenes is reconsidered in an attempt to shed light on the effects of a basic environment. [References: 19]
