India mulls packing entire wheat production in HDPE/PP sacks

KOLKATA (ICIS)--India is considering to amend a mandatory jute packaging order to enable wheat production of the county to be packed in high density polyethylene (HDPE) or polypropylene (PP) woven sacks, an agriculture ministry official said on Wednesday. The Cabinet Committee for Economic Affairs (CCEA) was expected to meet within the next one week to ratify dilution of the mandatory jute packaging order so that the entire winter crop of wheat, popularly known as rabi crop, currently being harvested could be packed in HDPE/PP woven sacks, he said.
