摘要

Maximum pollen germination as well as pollen tube growth were observed on selfing wheat or barley, These also showed a good seed set. On crossing wheat x barley, pollen germination and pollen tube growth were the least and seed set was also very low whereas in the reciprocal cross where these two parameters showed higher values, seed set was also a little more. In wheat x barley crosses, at 72 h after pollination a degenerating endosperm and a shrunken embryo were seen which may be responsible for alow seed set. In the reciprocal cross this process was delayed.
