Experimental results for the influence of an external DC magnetic field on the propagation velocity of ultrasonic waves in a magnetic fluid are reported. Measurements have been carried out for various field strengths and two frequencies of ultrasonic waves, 2 and 3MHz, and for parallel and perpendicular orientation of the magnetic field relative to the propagation vector of the waves. Moreover, the anisotropy of the sound velocity in the DC magnetic field are analyzed both experimentally and theoretically.
