The reduction behavior of the ferrous burden in the blast furnace (BF) greatly influences the fuel consumption and productivity of the BF. Extensive research has been conducted on the reduction behavior of ferrous material1-4). Due to the variation in iron ore composition and various mineral contents, the study of the reduction phenomena has been focused on the effect of various impurities on the reduction behavior. In the present study, the influence of Na2O on the reduction behavior of Fe2O3 compacts was examined from 1073 K to 1273 K under a CO/CO2 gas mixture using thermo-gravimetric analysis.
